School of Drama Tours
The School of Drama at Carnegie Mellon University offers in-depth tours of the Purnell Center for the Arts for students and their families interested in learning more about the university and school.
Tours are given typically Monday-Friday starting at 12:30 pm. The tours are by appointment only and are conducted by current School of Drama students under the advisement of School of Drama staff members.
Tours typically last 45-60 minutes and they start in the Purnell Center lobby, second level, at the top of the main staircase.
During the tour you will learn about:
- Our state of the art classrooms and performance venues
- The School of Drama Audition & Application process
- Our conservatory training program
- Our esteemed and internationally recognized faculty
- Where School of Drama alums are working in the industry
- What life is like for a student at the School of Drama
Because of the sensitive nature of many of our classes, the School of Drama does not have an open door policy on visiting students attending classes. We will have classes available during Sleeping Bag Weekends for students interested in attending Carnegie Mellon University.
Tours are only offered Monday through Friday. No weekend tours are available.

Summer tours will begin the week of July 2nd and will run until August 10.
Fall Tours will begin the week of August 27. Dates will be posted soon.
